Efficient removal of contaminated material
Fire department operations are often associated with spills of environmentally harmful liquids such as mineral oils, fuels or chemicals. In these cases, it is important to act quickly and effectively to prevent the spill from spreading and having a large-scale impact on the environment. The HYDRA SWAP (Swimming Water Application Protection) multi-skimmer for the removal of oil and contaminated material is used in combination with the internationally proven HYDRA fire department vacuum cleaner and the ULTRA pre-separator. The sequence of these devices significantly facilitates the extraction of unwanted materials from water surfaces. The suction chamber of the skimmer is placed in a floating body that allows the device to float on the water surface. The skimmer is designed in such a way that it adapts to the water level. Surface water and floating materials are sucked up via the connected suction hose. The extendable telescopic pole makes it easy to guide the skimmer along the water surface. If required, two skimmers can also be operated with one HYDRA fire department vacuum cleaner, either in parallel operation or controlled separately. With the HYDRA SWAP, you are ideally equipped for sensitive operations with contaminated materials.
- The skimmer floats on the water surface thanks to the compact float
- Water level compensation for optimum extraction performance
- 200 x 40 mm large suction opening
- Optional suction hose extension for more reach
- Parallel operation of a second skimmer in the system possible
- Problem-free transportation
- Low weight
Use of the HYDRA SWAP
When in use, the HYDRA SWAP multi-skimmer is connected upstream of the combination of the HYDRA firefighting vacuum cleaner and the ULTRA pre-separator, in which the individual devices are connected to each other by the dimensionally stable suction hoses. The suction power is provided by the fire department vacuum cleaner. The liquids are sucked into the suction chamber of the skimmer via the suction opening at the front. At the bottom, the liquids are directed to the pre-separator via the drain hose. The oil and contaminated materials are separated in the pre-separator (more information on our ULTRA pre-separator). Water, which is also sucked in, is fed from the pre-separator to the fire department vacuum cleaner via the connecting hose. The stainless steel waste water pump located in the tank of the fire department vacuum cleaner then pumps the sucked-in liquid via the drain hose to the desired drain or disposal location. The contaminated material, which is collected in the tank of the pre-separator, can be disposed of at the appropriate collection points after use. No extra accessories are required to use the appliance combination described above. All hoses used for the connection are already included in the respective set when purchasing the Multi-Skimmer, the HYDRA fire department vacuum cleaner and the ULTRA pre-separator. Optionally, the range of the skimmer on the water surface can be increased with an optional 12 m suction hose extension.
Double the power
For larger areas, two skimmers can be used on one vacuum cleaner.
